THE LEGEND OF MICAH BY A PROUD MOM

Micah was born Micah Wesley Howarth in Heerlen, The Netherlands on April 15, 1983.  He was born to Robert and Janet Howarth. He had dual citizenship between The Netherlands (Holland) and America (which he had to give up to become a US Army Soldier.   Two years later his little brother, David was born.

In 1986 Micah and Davids mother remarried Royal M Goulet.  Several years later the two boys approached mom and "daddy Roy" regarding being adopted by "daddy Roy."  So, near the age of 12 Micah was "reborn" as Micah Wesley Goulet, a name he carries with pride.  As was his brother David.

Micah was a sweet, loving child.  As a baby he would gather "fuzz" from the carpets and blankets and save them in between his fingers.  As a baby he loved sweet potatoes and when he would wear the sweet potatoes you couldn't tell where his hair ended and the sweet potatoes began.

As a toddler he loved to sing and play.  He and his brother have always (to this day) been bonded as tightly as any brothers could be.  If I were to guess I (as his mother) would say that Micah would die to save his brother.  There is noone whom he loves in such a way as he does his little brother.

Micah (except during teen years) has always been close to me as his mother.  He had many problems during his teens getting along with his dad.  Now, that Micah has become a man, he has his dad right up there on a pedestal as the best father a guy could have.

We have had our share of problems as a family.  Many many times I worried about my children and some of the choices they made.  When Micah came home at the age of 17 and said he was joining the Army I cried and I cried.  Of course, there was no war then, but my husband encouraged me that by allowing Micah to join it would make a man of him.  He was right.

I never dreamed that Micah would someday grow up and go to war.  I'm glad I didn't know because I would've started worrying many years agoo.  It's difficult to see someone go put themself in danger on a daily basis when that someone is your child.  There is no other grief like it.  When driving down the road listening to the radio all of the sudden, wow, I wonder if Micah is safe right now...where is he, what is he doing and then uttering a prayer.  Everyday is a struggle .

But, Micah is a man now.  I believe he made a good decision because it is his life.  He is a fine young man and his parents and family are proud.
